Police officers in Homa Bay town have commenced investigations surrounding the death of a middle-aged woman at Shauri Yako village within Arujo location in Homa Bay County.
The deceased known to the residents as Millicent alias Mama Hodari, is suspected to have been sexually assaulted before being murdered by unknown persons who dumped her body in a toilet within a secluded piece of land.
Speaking to KNA, the area Chief Robert Lang’o explained that the body of the deceased, who was in her mid-30s, was discovered by a child who had branched off to use the facility today morning.
Lang’o added that the deceased, who was also a mother of two was discovered half-naked wearing only a skirt, with her other clothes dumped beside her body.
“We called the police upon reaching the scene of the crime who then assessed the situation and moved the body,” said Lang’o.
The administrator urged the area residents to remain vigilant during the night and avoid risky places like abandoned buildings adding that they should as well work hand in hand with the police by availing information on crimes.
The body was moved to Homa Bay County teaching and referral hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem to determine the cause of death.
