Police are investigating an incident in which a police officer based in Kiambu reportedly died by suicide after setting himself ablaze inside his house at Muthuini Village in Kieni West, Nyeri.
Police said the policeman’s wife had travelled to Murang’a before the incident and that their children were away during the incident. The body was moved to the local mortuary as investigations go on.
This is the latest incident in which an increasing number of Kenyans are dying by suicide.
A report by police had indicated between March and June this year some 500 people had died by suicide in a worrying trend.
