A 17-year-old boy from Kanyatonya village, Kawuor sub location in East Kabuoch location, Ndhiwa constituency is reported to have killed his 42-year-old uncle in a land boundary dispute.

The boy identified as Felix Onyango Ogutu, stormed his uncle’s homestead armed with a panga to avenge for his mother who was reportedly assaulted earlier, and slashed the late Kennedy Ndeda who sustained severe injuries.

The boy who sat his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) at Ang’iya primary school and is now awaiting to join form one was allegedly angered by his uncle for allegedly assaulting his mother over a dispute concerning land boundaries.

Confirming the incident, area assistant chief John Otonge said the two families were fighting over land boundaries before the fateful death.

On learning about the death of Ndeda, angry neighbors stormed the suspect’s home where they caused chaos and burning down the homestead.

Speaking to journalists, Meressa Auma Ogutu, mother to the suspect narrated that the enraged neighbours molested her before setting ablaze her homestead.

Mrs. Ogutu said her son was still at large and appealed to the government and other well-wishers to offer her support as she salvaged nothing from her burnt house.

She further said that her husband’s younger brother (the deceased), attacked her in the absence of her son which pushed him to commit the murder.

The administrator condemned the act saying that the public should not have taken the matter into their hands but they ought to have reported the incident to the authorities.

“It is sad that the residents took it upon themselves to punish the offenders instead of letting the police do their work," said Otonge.

The body of the deceased was moved to Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem.
