Family opens up ahead of murdered police officer John Ogweno's funeral

The family, friends and colleagues of slain police officer John Ogweno are grief stricken. They cannot believed that he is gone.

Ogweno was  shot in the head, detectives believe that he was killed by his colleague Carolyne Kangogo.

At the viewing of his body in at the Kasarani Police Line estate in Nakuru, ahead of his burial today in Homa Bay County, tears rolled freely.

Ogweno's sister, Eunice Ouru, told members of the fourth estate, 

“Let this not be the way to settle disputes among police officers in the country, it is a painful thing.” 

She added that Ogweno was a the sole breadwinner for his young family.

 My brother was a very humble and kind person. All those who interacted with him can testify. It is painful,” said Ouru. 

Ogweno’s dad, Edward Ouru Ombae raised issue with how the son died.

“The death has robbed us of Johnny while in his prime. I had high expectations of him,” he said. 

Adding:  “Pray for us during this trying moment. I am deeply hurt by this incident,” said Ombae. 

Ogweno’s remains are now at Sengre Village, Ringa in Rachuonyo East Sub County in Homa Bay ahead of today’s burial.
