A police officer was last night shot dead in a robbery at Land Mawe area, Industrial Area, Nairobi.

The corporal of police attached to Industrial Area police station was seated with his girlfriend in his car when three gunmen confronted them demanding cash and other valuables.

Police say this prompted a confrontation that saw him shot in the head and died on the spot.

Police say in the process, the suspects shot and killed one of their own who was standing on the opposite side of the car.

The gang escaped on foot to unknown destination. A hunt on the gang is ongoing. The bodies was moved to the mortuary.
