Remember Gladys Kamande? The sick woman whose plight moved a street boy to tears?

"In one of her countless trips to KNH, GLADYS KAMANDE was caught up in traffic.

A young homeless Kenyan happened to be walking by asking for help from motorists. When he met Gladys he was about to introduce himself when he saw her carrying weighty equipment.

HE ASKED WHAT THEY WERE FOR.WHEN SHE EXPLAINED THEY WERE SUPPLYING OXYGEN TO HER BODY,THE YOUNG MAN BROKE DOWN IN TEARS. YES SHE HAS HAD TO CARRY AN OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR, OXYGEN CYLINDERS AND A GENERATOR WITH HER WHEREVER SHE GOES. AND THAT HAS BEEN HER LOAD FOR YEARS.

FOR A MOMENT HE SAW HIMSELF WAY BETTER THAN HE THOUGHT. HE SYMPATHIZED WITH GLADYS.

BUT THE FACT THAT HE DIDN’T HAVE ANY MEANS OF CHANGING GLADYS CIRCUMSTANCES MADE HIM EVEN SADDER. HE GOT HOLD OF GLADYS’ HAND AND MADE A SILENT PRAYER- THAT GOD MAY PROVIDE ALL SHE COULD NEED FOR HER TREATMENT.

Puzzled onlookers had to reassure him that all was going to be fine with Gladys as he wept uncontrollably.”

The story went viral and Gladys Kamande who was blind and confined to a wheelchair for seven years and was forced to carry around an oxygen cylinder for all those years was finally taken to India for treatment (thanks to Kenyans who contributed towards her medical fund), Kamande is now back on her feet.

Funds drive manager Ndugu Nyoro rallied behind Kamande's medical fund's drive which saw Kenyans raise Sh. 9.5 M and a portion of the money was spent on her treatment leaving a balance of Sh. 5 million in the account that has three signatories; Gladys Kamande, her landlord Mr Kibue and the fundraiser coordinator Mr Ndungu Nyoro.

But after she healed, Kamande has been at loggerheads with activist Ndungu Nyoro demanding her balance and last week while admitted at a local hospital, she shared a video sobbing claiming that Ndungu Nyoro wanted her dead and had refused to release her money which she wanted to use.

This has tarnished Nyoro's name and yesterday, during an interview at a local vernacular radio station Kameme FM, he decided to hand over the funds.

"I will leave it to her to have full control of the money because the controversy has gone on for so long. We have agreed that when she is ready we will meet at the bank and transfer the money to her personal account.

Kenyans know I really tried to protect the money they had donated to this case but since some of them also criticised me demanding for accountability, I do not expect them to fault me for anything," said Ndugu Nyoro during the interview.

Glady Kamande has left Kenyans with many more questions than answers. Was she faking her sickness so that she would milk millions from Kenyans? Why didn't she leave the remaining money with Nyoro so that it would help someone else? Is there something fishy going on that Kamande doesn't want Kenyans to know?

Ever since she 'regained' back her sight after years of blindness, Gladys has been rocking some designer clothes, bags, artificial hairs and even high heels leaving Kenyans tongues wagging.
