Police in Teso North in Busia County are holding a middle aged man in connection with the murder of his 16-year-old daughter at Royco area in Amoni location.

Patrick Imusio, 40, was arrested over the weekend two days after what was allegedly a mere punishment to the daughter-Faith Ijoni, turned tragic.

Teso North Sub County Police Commander Wilson Muraya said the suspect allegedly committed the crime on Friday evening before escaping to Malaba-Uganda upon realizing the daughter had died.

“According to our preliminary investigations the suspect found his daughter playing with other girls from the neighborhood-who he had warned her against associating with because of their bad behavior.

“This is said to have prompted him to clobber the girl several times with a stick before leaving her for death,” Muraya told Kenya News Agency.

The police boss added that investigations are underway while the body of the deceased is still lying at Frapa Funeral Home which is attached to Sub County hospital.

Muraya said his officers acting on intelligence report managed to arrest the suspect who was hiding in Uganda after a tip-off from members of the public.

He cautioned residents against physically punishing their children saying the number of death cases across the country is on the rise as a result of such punishments.
