Patrick Hinga, the 'chokora' who captivated many Kenyans with his rare story of pain, suffering, despair and redemption, died yesterday.

She spotted him on the streets and convinced him to go to rehab. Funds were contributed for him by generous Kenyans and a store was opened called Hinga's Store. He said at the time:

The store is run by my mother. I feel like I am a new man. I pray daily, asking God to deliver me so that I am not pulled back to that life of drugs.

Hinga's aspiration was to become a mechanic. May his soul rest in peace.
