Valentine is the day of lovers but it's effects are far more reaching than just the one day. The entire week leading up to Valentines is usually awash with love and romantic sentiments. And the month February is literally transformed into a soppy period.

But what happens to those who have lost loved ones? Those who either bear the burden of unrequited love or those whose loved ones have gone from this realm of the living? Who spares a thought for them?

And that is the line of thought going through my head as I think of Fidel Odinga's beautiful wife Lwam. To be honest, I probably only spared a thought for her because she is attractive but such is man's condition.
