The family of the late Catherine Nyokabi is mourning their great loss.

Catherine died aged 25 years old after her ex-boyfriend Evans Karani could not accept that she had moved on with her life and it would not include him.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Nyokabi’s father Gitonga Njogu said his daughter had introduced Karani to the family. They did not approve of him because they found out that he was a married man with five children.

“He came to my home many times and we even know his car. He even visited the deceased’s grandmother. When we saw his true standing, Nyokabi had reservations about getting married to him,” said Njogu.

Adding,

“When she tried to leave him, he just kept following her. It seems he committed the act because he had been rejected.”

Yesterday, Catherine was buried in Nyeri in an emotional ceremony, her sister paid a moving tribute.

She said,

"It is hard to believe it is hard to accept that you have gone, dear sis. Remembering your special time you spent with us, surely having a sister like you depends on cost. Stories and enjoyment were many in our life time with you. you really supported us in all ways."
