Mp Shah hospital had the unfortunate luck of being in the headlines in April when a patient who they had just treated for 12 hours died.
The issue was not that the patient died but the resultant bill the deceased had incurred. It was 800 thousand shillings. They explained the bill in a statement saying:
Any medical bill is not dictated only by the duration of stay in the hospital but by the extent and complexity of the medical procedures accorded to the patient. The breakdown of the bill has been provided to [Ms Anyango’s] family.
But some Kenyans did not buy the explanation proffered. Why the long story? The hospital is in the news again. And not for a hefty bill but a car crashing into one of their hospital hallways. What happened exactly?
We called the hospital for a comment and they explained. Apparently, the man driving the car lost control of his car while he was looking for a spot to park. This happened yesterday.
The resultant crash damaged the glass partition and the car was stopped by the wall inside the hallway. The hospital said that apart from the driver of the car there weren’t other casualties from the accident.
According to the hospital, the driver of the car however sustained trauma injuries on his head as he could n’t remember much of what had just happened to him.
