Nigerians definitely went overboard after trying to sell human meat at a restaurant. Here in Kenya though we are set to now start enjoying a wider variety of meat delicacies legally. Kenyans can finally eat donkey meat from Naivasha without worry after the county government licensed the first donkey slaughterhouse.

The donkey slaughterhouse in Naivasha town is intended to stop rampant donkey theft, and sale of uninspected meat according to the Nakuru county agriculture, and fisheries executive Stanley Chepkwony.

"Donkeys are food animals. There is no need to deny the investors a license to operate," Chepwony said.

He said donkeys should be kept in safe and secure conditions to avoid contamination and spread of diseases.

The slaughterhouse owner, John Kariuki, said he will be exporting the donkey meat to China where there is ready market.
