Cameroonian Saxophonist Manu Dibango dies from coronavirus

Cameroonian Afro-jazz star Manu Dibango has died while receiving treatment for coronavirus, this comes days after the death of Aurlus Mabele.

The man who was fondly known as 'Pappy Grove'  by his family died aged 86.

An announcement of the 86-year-old saxophonist's death to his fans on Facebook s: "A voice rises in the distance.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of Manu Dibango, our Papy Groove, who passed away on 24 March 2020, at 86 years old, because of Covid-19.

His funeral service will be held in strict privacy, and a tribute to his memory will be organized when possible.

He was one of the pioneers of Afro jazz, fusing funk and traditional music from his homeland.
