According to information by the police investigating Jacob Juma's murder, the gunmen who kidnapped the daughter of former politician Kenneth Matiba, could have killed the controversial businessman.

According to a ballistic report by CID forensic investigators, grooves on the weapon recovered from the kidnappers, have matched those on cartridges found at the scene where the businessman was shot dead on May 5.

The conclusion was reached after ballistic examinations on the AK-47 recovered from criminals shot last Sunday in Nairobi, indicated it was the same weapon that was used in Juma’s murder.

The findings were, however, dismissed by social media users, who said this might be a cover-up.

The four-man gang is believed to have kidnapped Ivy Matiba and robbed her of cash, personal effects and demanded ransom from her family.

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet on Monday night, said police recovered the gun used to shoot Juma. A statement signed by spokesman George Kinoti did not indicate where the weapon was found.

The Star yesterday established that the AK-47, serial number 254974, was recovered from the four criminals killed as they drove on Nyayo roundabout last Sunday.

Investigations have shown one of the slain gangsters was a former police constable identified as Simon Muturi.
