Bruce Odhiambo passed on this week. He was well-known for his work as the former chair of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund. But what many Kenyans may not know is that the man started out as a musician.

What! You heard that right. Bruce started out with Safari Sounds and Spartan bands and then decided to venture into music production.

His musical talents matured at St. Mary's school where he played the double bass and violin. This was also the place that he met eventual long-time friend president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Bruce got into the music business after he met Philip Mwikia, a part-time deejay who lived in Harambee estate. Thereafter he became a sessional guitarist for artists like Joseph Kamaru and Ochieng' Kabaselleh.

That is an impressive resume. Very impressive. May the man rest in peace.
