Every job you take on carries with it unique risks.

Some of the risks are the ultimate risk: to life and limb. And even though we as a nation aren't always appreciative of them, police officers -be they from the police force, General Service Unit or Administrative Police- are expected to put themselves at risk to ensure our safety.

Are there some bad apples? Where aren't there any? It's just a pity that in their case, they only ever get appreciated when they pay the ultimate price.

And this was the case for one such officer who gave his life to protect civilians and foreigners who had been caught up in the recent terror attacks at 14 Riverside Drive complex and more specifically, at Dusit hotel.

I want to celebrate his life and the sacrifice he made defending his nation from al Shabaab extremists.
