A boda boda operator who eloped with a standard six pupil has been arrested at Nyadorera in Usonga location in Siaya County.
The 20-year-old man was arrested by local residents led by the Nyadorera “B” Assistant Chief, Felix Dan Odongo who raided his home.
According to the assistant chief, the incident occurred at Udamai village where the suspect, Julius Ochieng Obonyo was found cohabiting with the 15-year-old girl, said to be a pupil at the nearby Dibuoro Primary School.
Chief Odongo said that the girl was reported missing from her grandmother’s house on Friday last week.
“We mounted a search for the minor and with the support from the community policing committee, we got wind that the suspect had hidden her in his house,” said the assistant chief.
He said that they raided Obonyo’s house at around midnight and found the boda boda operator and the girl, both of whom were whisked away to the Nyadorera police patrol base.
He said the suspect will be arraigned before the courts once investigations were complete.
