Bob Collymore's classy send off! From Jaguars to top notch security

Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore was given a befitting send-off yesterday.

His body left Lee Funeral Home in the morning.

Police outriders cleared the roads as the cortege manoeuvred through the Nairobi traffic.

Upon arrival at Kariokor, the body was secluded in a room where only his wife, children, mom and sister were allowed.

Only invited guests were allowed to witness Collymore's final rites.

Other members of the family, named James and Sarah were also allowed.

The family then joined friends in an open space for the ceremony.

The cremation happened at a temperature of between 1,000 to 2,000 degrees celsius.

Collymore died at his home on Monday morning after a battle with cancer.

The hearse carrying Bob's body was acquired by Lee Funeral Home at was is reported to be Ksh 17m.

The British machine replaced Lee Funeral home's German machine - a Mercedes hearse - as its primary vehicle of choice for carrying the remains of prominent people.

Other prominent personalities who have been ferried in the Jaguar hearse include GG Kariuki, Joseph Nkaissery, Nicholas Biwott and Bethuel Kiplagat.
