As political temperatures rise ahead of the August elections, hatred, violence, and tribalism are rearing their ugly heads.

One person was this morning stabbed and killed while another one was injured in clashes between rival groups in Pangani area, Starehe constituency, Nairobi as Jubilee Party nominations started.

The deceased was stabbed twice in the chest and back before he ran away from the rowdy youths.

He was however hit by a speeding matatu near Pangani Girls high school flyover. The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was admitted with serious wounds, at least according to police reports.

Police and witnesses said the fighting between the two groups started at about 7 am. This was after one group supporting a Jubilee MP candidate in the area stumbled upon a rival supporter mounting posters over their candidate’s poster that had already mounted.

Elsewhere, flamboyant governor William Kabogo was defeated by Waititu alias Baba Yao in Kiambu county gubernatorial primaries.
