Police in Bomet is investigating the motive behind the murder of a mechanic working at one of the garages in Bomet town.

According to the County Police Commander Mrs Naomi Ichami, the mutilated body of the mechanic was found dumped near Kenya Breweries depot by pedestrians going to work in the morning.

Those who found the body reported the matter to Bomet Police who then visited the scene of crime.

“The body was positively identified by the residents as that of the 35-year-old Stephen Okoth, a mechanic in town and the name corresponded with the identity documents found at the scene of the crime,” Mrs. Ichami said.

She said the body had missing organs including one eye, one ear and leg toes.

“Such is not an ordinary murder where even parts of the body are removed. There must have been a motive behind it and those who saw him last should volunteer information to assist police with investigations,” the police boss said.

“I appeal to members of the public to remain calm and stop any speculations as the police have started working on the matter,” she stated.

The body was removed to Longisa County referral hospital awaiting postmortem after the next of kin have been notified.
