Years ago, getting a job was my finest achievement. “Umepata kazi? Nitumie kitu” My parents back home would say. I was glad that I didn’t have to personally deliver the money in cash like back then when there was no mobile money transfer service. Nowadays, “Safaricom+... M-PESA... Send Money... Search Contacts... Enter Amount... Confirm... Send”.

I could literally delegate tasks and get much achieved through my phone, without using a lot of energy just by going to the M-PESA menu and later giving instructions as I asked, “Umepata? Sasa nataka unishonee suti… naenda wedding next month”.

Now M-PESA has been embedded into every part of my life. I honestly don’t know what I would do without it. My life is ten times simpler than it was without M-PESA.

Over the years as I grow older, owning a home has become one of my goals. We all know how much rent can eat in to salary. Housing isn’t cheap. I have been thinking to myself, “How can I get my own home?”. Imagine having a place that you can say “Yeah, that is my property”. The prospect of owning some property and stop worrying about rent or having the ability to earn a passive income through my property excites me like a child who is having an unlimited supply of their favorite ice cream.

I have an ingenious plan!

You see, Safaricom is having this promotion, ‘Maisha ni M-PESA tu’ which will reward their customers every time they send and receive money through M-PESA. It’s running for ten weeks beginning on the 18th of June, 2018… just about enough time to pull off my secret genius plan.

Safaricom customers will earn 10 points for every Ksh 100 transacted while agents will earn one point for every Ksh 100 deposited. In addition to this, all M-PESA customers who participate in the promotion will have the chance to redeem their points for data, voice minutes or SMS.

The promotion which seeks to thank and reward their customers for their support through 11 years of the service will have amazing prizes which include one of seven apartments. My plan is to win one of those apartments.

How will I do it?
