The 2015 World Athletics Championships saw Kenya top the chart for winning the most medals in the games. Team Kenya brought home seven gold, six silver and three bronze medals. The athletes are, as usual, doing their very best in representing Kenya at an international level.

President Uhuru tweeted to congratulate the team;

“Our young people have once again shown that they are as good as the world’s best and brightest,” he said.

Going forward, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and the Arts Dr Hassan Wario has called on Italian entrepreneurs to invest in the Kenyan sports and film industry. Dr. Wario said this at this year’s Milan Expo where he was addressing an investment forum. The CS said that the country is in the process of building three modern stadia, with shopping malls and high end apartments. This will see more investors stream into the country.

Recently, Uhuru Kenyatta opened the newly refurbished Kenya National Theater giving a big boost to the arts industry in Kenya. At the same time, the government has zero-rated VAT on the importation of film equipment, with the aim of uplifting the film industry in Kenya to have it competing with the likes of Bollywood and Nolly-wood. The Kenyan film industry has also played a big role in nurturing top global talent, for example, Oscar award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o and Italian Job actor Edi Gathegi another added plus to the Kenyan showbiz sector.
