Victor Wanyama is arguably the best footballer Kenya has ever produced. The talented player who plies his trade in the English Premier League is a role model to many both at home and across the globe. He is also among the few disciplined, humble and hardworking Kenyan footballers.

Wanyama, who is the captain of Kenya's national team Harambee Stars, got a rare chance to captain his English side Southampton on Wednesday as they beat Aston Villa 2-1 at St Mary's Stadium to book a place in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

Kenyans took to social media to congratulate this son of our land for becoming the first East African player to play such a role in the prestigious English Premier League. Apart from the captain's armband, Wanyama who has always been patriotic, also donned a Kenyan wristband as has become the norm whenever he plays.

Congratulations Victor! Humble yourself before the Lord and he will definitely lift you up.
