Not everything was meant to be. For example, your failure in life for the first quarter of your life may now be a past memory. This is exactly what top Kenyan band Elani has to say about their awkward coming together. In their colorful interview with Couture Africa June 2015 issue, Wambui Ngugi, one of the band members gushes about what has kept them together;

"Common purpose, common goal that is it. That is the only thing that keeps us together," she said.

Brian, the only male in the group asked her why so, "Not even friendship?"

Wambui chimed in to explain further why their coming together was unprecedented. She said that back in 2008/2009 they were in competition at Das Restaurant in which they never qualified. They weren't even friends.

"It was just work. It was not even work at the time because it was something we enjoyed doing and we had a lot of time," she revealed. She says that it became something that they wanted to do over time. That's how Elani was formed.

"It was after a lot of time and work was invested that...Actually our friendship was forced," she added. The band has been riding high for the past two years with their songs "Zuzu" and "Koo Koo."
