The just concluded World Travel Awards (WTAs) have seen Kenya clinch the Top Safari destination award. This is after a 2 year miss on the recognition. Our beautiful country beat the likes of Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and South Africa to the top recognition. Kenyan hotels and tourism destinations also got coveted awards from the WTAs.

Villa Rosa Kempinski won the leading hotel suite award for their famous Presidential suite. Fly 540 clinched the leading domestic carrier award while Hemingways Expeditions took home the leading inbound tour operator award.

Kenya Tourism Board MD Muriithi Ndegwa had this to say about the win:

“Our country scooped the global award due to the diverse flora and fauna found in our national parks and game reserves,” he said.

“All parks and game reserves across the country have their own uniqueness in terms of wildlife, giving international visitors different experiences,” he added.

This year, our country has been visited by top global leaders, including US President Barrack Obama, Pope Francis as well as US Secretary of State John Kerry.
