An assistant chief in Migori County is in police custody after he fatally stabbed a man whom he accused of having a love affair with his wife.

The suspect, who had been on the run since Sunday after he committed the offence, was apprehended on Tuesday after he sneaked back into the country from his hideout in Tanzania.

The two men are said to have picked a quarrel while drinking chang’aa at a local den before the chief drew a sharp knife and stabbed the deceased twice in the stomach.

The deceased succumbed to the knife wounds on Monday morning while receiving treatment at the Migori County referral hospital.

His assailant had by then managed to escape to neighboring Tanzania. The suspect is expected in court tomorrow to answer to murder charges.
