Mothers have a special place in everyone’s heart. Adelle Onyango knows that and appreciates that.
Someone once wrote, “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”
hmednassir kando! Nigerian man nicknamed Dr. Bugatti buys Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bugatti Veyron for 255,875,000 shillings!
Well, 2018 is the year of big things and Adelle Onyango is clearly making that known.
She’s one lady we all admire for her hardwork and how she grabs an opportunity once it comes her way.
As much as she’s always on her feet trying to juggle a million and one things at the same time, Adelle is one fashionable lady who breaks all rules of fashion to make her style unique.
Well, she’s stepping into the fashion world and this time, she’s launching her own clothing line.
She’s calling her line The Anyango Capsule Collection, which is named after her late mother and the motivation behind her starting this line is to honour her mother and to also bring out four characteristics that her mother had, which she hopes will inspire other people.
A month after the passing of her mum – Mary Onyango – Adelle penned this piece on her blog.
“I lost my mum a month ago, she was my everything, my best friend, my support. Everyone close to me knew that I lived for her. As I hit my twenties, we became best friends and we talked about everything.
So losing her really is a huge blow to me. I’ve been through a lot in my 23 years here, but this definitely takes the cake as being the hardest thing to live through. My mum and I agreed on few things (since she was just as stubborn as I am), one of which was, you have to share your story so that others can learn from it.
I remember when I was scared of having my rape story published, she said it would help those who will listen and those who don’t like that I shared my story, don’t matter. So, I know someone out there, is going through exactly what my sisters and I are going through….death affects EVERYONE.
You can’t prepare yourself for it though. It’s the GREATEST heartbreak you will ever go through. Sometimes I really don’t want to go on without her – I think “what’s the point”, sometimes I’m cranky and angry with the world for just going along even though she’s not here.
Sometimes I just want to relocate to somewhere where nothing will remind me of her absence – I mean here, every other day there are articles about her, there are people telling me “pole” and when I get home….there’s her empty bedroom.
And on very very few days I feel strong. If you’re going through this, you’re not alone. I wish I could tell you everything will be “ok” but I can’t.
I mean my definition of “ok” is having my mum right back here so no – everything won’t be ok in my books. Everything will be DIFFERENT. But it helps to know that there’s someone out here who understands….I do.
Adelle has teamed up with four creatives to bring this dream to life.
Taking to social media, she explained what the line will be all about and when she will release the pieces.
“2 years ago I had the idea of designing a capsule collection in honour of my late mum, Mary Anyango Onyango. A powerful, limitless and strong woman. A collection of timeless pieces that would bring attributes of my late mum to life. So I collaborated with 4 creatives to achieve this and over the next 4 weeks we will reveal one item and one creative per week.”
