As Malia Obama turns 17 today, I'd like to celebrate her achievements as she approached adulthood. The President's daughter has been in the media headlines recently for various reasons. The most prominent one is the fact that a few Kenyan men offered cows and other pricey possessions so that they could marry her. What a lame shot?

The girl has rapidly become a fashion icon. International designers fight to get a chance to dress her. She's got a unique taste in music; just like her dad. She listens to Pro Era and her dad loves Black Keys and Beyonce.

She's currently an intern with director Lena Dunham's HBO show "Girls" in Brooklyn, New York. Malia is just like any other normal girl; she fetches the cast coffee and does other tasks that'll make her be the next big filmmaker.

Malia's mom, First Lady Michelle revealed her daughter's interest in Hollywood back in 2012 in an interview with People Magazine;

"Malia has expressed some interest in filmmaking. Just like her father, she is an avid reader, and she enjoys movies. But she's a freshman, so she also knows she has years in college to explore her interest ... I want them to be as open to possibilities as possible," she said. She's been supportive to her daughter over the years. That's why she's achieving so much at a young age.

Previously, Malia interned with Halle Berry's CBS show "Extant" in Los Angeles.
