Five men suspected to have attacked a woman in Kayole and stripped her naked in public a week ago, were on Wednesday evening arrested.
The five who were positively identified by the victim were the first to be arrested by a special police unit formed to hunt down and deal with men who strip women in public.
The “Anti Stripping Squad” to be based at Nairobi Area has more than a dozen officers and will specifically focus on dealing with increasing cases of attacks on women in public.
Police have also appealed to a woman who the victim of gruesome sexual harassment in a matatu, an act that was captured on video, to come forward and offer information on her assailants.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has meanwhile sought special permission from the Director of Public Prosecution to prosecute such men arrested for stripping women in public.
