Who will save us from the ruthless actions of our security forces? If their work is to protect and serve us yet they mistreat us, who will take care of us? These are just some of the questions going through the minds of several Kenyans following yesterday's ugly scenes along University Way in the CBD.

Hundreds of CORD supporters had camped outside the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices in a bid to eject the commissioners from office ahead of the 2017 General Election, claiming that they had failed in their mandate of overseeing free and fair elections, but all did not go well. Just like last time, GSU and regular police officers were forced to use teargas to disperse the demonstrators but to some extent, they brutally assaulted many of them, based on events witnessed on our TV screens.

Photos of demonstrators being beaten thoroughly like animals, some even being stepped on the heads by the ruthless GSU officers have left many fearing for their lives as it seems those meant to protect them have turned out to be animals.
