Jeff Koinange was on the hot seat after Miguna Miguna was filmed on his show saying, "Everybody is raping Esther," directing it a visibly angry and perturbed Esther Passaris. The recording was taken when the live show was on a break. Once the video was released, it went viral and it left a bad taste in many people's mouth.

Now, Jeff was the point of discussion on NTV's Press Pass where Standard Group's Digital Editor David Ohito was at pains to explain some issues raised on gender sensitivity by the host of the show. Defending his department which saw the videos posted online, Ohito said KTN pulled down the video of the contentious interview and an apology offered.

“As a media house the Standard Group had concerns, very genuine ones internally and we have taken what we call internal mechanisms and which is why we brought down the content in the online version,” Ohito said.

The question on everyone's mind was, is Jeff Koinange's show upholding journalistic ethics? David Ohito answered this question and threw a mini-bomb that could suggest, Jeff Koinange could be facing "administrative" measures.

"In terms of the ethics, I would not want to attack Jeff Koinange. But I would want to remind the viewers here and anybody else who is interested that there are ways in which TV stations work. One includes outsourcing credible people to produce content and then you simply air.  That is how Jeff Koinange's show came to KTN. I want to clarify again that Jeff Koinange is not in the rank and file of the staff of the Standard Group. But the management has taken a decision which it will be following both administratively and as I said, bringing down that content online," Ohito noted.
