Jeff Koinange was recently arrested after a court order was issued. He had failed to turn in for a court appearance and chosen to attend a conference in Ivory Coast. Senior Magistrate Maisy Chesang said that he is "a difficult person to deal with and the explanations explaining his failure to be in court are insufficient."

“I acknowledge submissions that Mr. Koinange is a difficult person to deal with and the explanations given for his failure to be in court are insufficient. In the circumstances, a fresh warrant of arrest is issued against him and his cash bail forfeited to the state," the magistrate said.

When his lawyer argued that he was attending to the vital event, the judge said that it wasn't reason enough for him to forgo the calling. The result if his case alongside businessman Tony Gachoka is due to their dispute with businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Sani Mbui Wanjigi and Kwacha Group of Companies Limited.

“What was more important, cancelling the trip or attending court? The judicial process is more important than any other engagement and as a public figure, he should know that it is good order to follow court orders” she added. This is according to a report in Business Daily.
