University Student Jailed For Insulting Uhuru Kenyatta

After the controversial blogger Robbert Alai was arrested for abusing communication people still post hatred messages on social media without knowing its impact on the public. Alai is a well known critic of the Jubilee government and also mocked the renovation and building work in Kibera by the government by calling it "Kalongolongo".

A Moi University Student who insulted President Uhuru Kenyatta on social media after assenting to the controversial anti- terrorism law has been  jailed for two years.

Alan Wadi Okengo alias Liutenant Wadi appeared before City Resident Magistrate Ann Kaguru and admitted to spreading hate speech and insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kaguru ordered Wadi to pay a fine Sh200,000 for hate speech in default he will serve one year in prison. And for insulting President Uhuru, the trial magistrate said in a judgment that Wadi serves one year without an optional of a fine. Wadi, a former student of Starehe Boys Center admitted posting on his Facebook wall an incitement massages meant to stir ethnic hatred between various communities in Kenya
