A teacher from Nyabururu High School was arrested on Monday, October 7 after being caught impersonating a female student in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (K.C.S.E).

County Criminal Investigation Officer Justus Burudi told journalists that a keen invigilator discovered that Joshua Otoki, 35, was sitting the Chemistry paper for one Quinter Kerubo, 20, at Sameta examinations centre.

The invigilator decided to blow the whistle upon noticing that the teacher had indicated a female name on his answer booklet - something wouldn't explain when called upon to.

It is widely believed that the student made the arrangement with Mr Otoki so that she could secure an excellent grade even as other sources indicate that the two lovers.

Both the teacher and student will be arraigned in court where they will be charged with engaging in examination malpractice.

Meanwhile, another candidate sat her first examination from hospital hours after giving birth though caesarean section.

The girl who is a student at Madogo Secondary School sat her English paper from a local clinic where she was admitted.

Speaking to journalists, Coast Region Education Co-ordinator Dickson Ole Keis said the girl had been taken to a local hospital on Sunday. She was taken into theatre after developing complications.

Keis said arrangements had been made to have the girl sit the exam from hospital without any hitches.
