Elizabeth Lulu Micheal, a popular actress has been released from jail. The Tanzanian entertainer was sentenced to two years for manslaughter. She is accused of killing actor Steven Kanumba back in April 7 2012.
Elizabeth was jailed in November last year but reports have it that she is now under probation and will be serving the rest of her jail sentence at home.
The actress who has over a million followers on social media was released today morning to the delight of her fans.
At the court hearing, Lulu said the deceased wanted to attack her with a Panga after which he fell down hit his head and was unconscious. She then ran for her life only to get the news that Kanumba was no more.
She said during the court hearing last year:
“Nilikuwa nataka kutoka ila marehemu ‘Kanumba’ alinikataza, alikuwa hataki nitoke, nilipomwambia natoka na marafiki zangu alinikimbiza na taulo na mimi nilikuwa naogopa kupigwa, mara nyingi alikuwa ananipiga kila akilewa na sio kwa akili zake, alipoona simu yangu inaita akahisi ni simu ya mwanaume akasema kwanini naongea na simu ya mwanaume mbele yake? Marehemu akaingia uvunguni akatoa panga akasema leo nakuua huku akinipiga na panga kwenye mapaja”
“Marehemu alianguka mwenyewe na kujigonga kwa nguvu na kuinuka sehemu nyingine alikuwa kama anatapatapa, nilimwambia Seth kuwa Kanumba amedondoka na akajaribu kumuamsha hakuamka akasema anaenda kumuita daktari, alivyosema anaenda kumuita daktari na mimi nikaondoka nikiogopa anaweza akaamka akaanza kunipiga, niliondoka nikawasha gari kuelekea Coco Beach kutuliza akili.”
Kanumba was one of the most celebrated actors in Tanzania with multiple awards for his work in the acting industry.

This is an alternative custody program that allows inmates to serve the last portion of a jail sentence at home.
In most cases, inmates wear an ankle bracelet that allows jail staff to track their movements in the community.
