Mike Sonko has warmed the hearts of Kenyans after going out of his way to help a woman who had been detained at a local hospital.

In a Facebook post, the flamboyant Senator said the sad story of one young mother by the name Edith Wangui News moved him to tears.

She had been detained at Fatima Maternity Hospital over an unpaid medical bill amounting to Sh155,000.

Wangui underwent a cesarean section at the facility but she could not foot the bill. As such, the hospital decided to hold her until the money was paid in full.

Her family tried to raise the money but their efforts did not bear much fruit. They turned to Facebook pages namely; Kilimani Mums, Rongai Mums and Pregnant and Nursing Mums for help.

The groups raised half of the bill before soliciting the Senator's help. Sonko sent his rescue team to pay the remainder and Wangui was discharged from hospital.

Sonko Rescue Team did some shopping for her before escorting her home where her family was eagerly waiting her arrival. Wangui's mother thanked the Sonko for his kind gesture.
