Talk about wealth! Well, not in the Western context but in the more homely, African fashion.

I am reliably informed that when Luos and Luhya's hold a funeral, they choose to celebrate the life of the fallen. That is a noble concept if ever I heard of one. Anyway, the passing of the Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang came as a shock to the nation but this is quite another very interesting surprise.

According to the Burial Committee, during the funeral of the late Senator to be held on Friday, 40 Bulls, 100 goats and sheep and 600 chicken will be slaughtered to feed mourners.

Infact, according to the Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti, there entire affair will be treated as a state function with support from both the national and county governments.

The cost of the funeral will however be settled by the late Otieno Kajwang's friends and members of the Waondo Clan -atleast according to the chairperson of the funeral committee, Mr. Opere.

And what of the controversy involving the late Homa bay Senator's alleged second wife?

Well, the leaders of the Waondo clan have been attempting to broker a peace deal between the official wife (Dr. Rose otieno) and the alleged second wife (Ms. Faith Vivian Otieno).
