The controversial leader has stepped aside to pave way for graft investigations against him and other top leaders in the government. He'll be away from official duties until he's cleared off corruption.

Sonko was in the list of the legislators named in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) report released yesterday. He was mentioned as having in corrupt deals with Land Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu and Energy CS Davis Chirchir.

The senator was named as having attempted to pocket tax payers' money by influencing issuance of the Kenya Pipeline Tender. Mike Sonko spoke to Radio Jambo earlier today and noted that his conscious clear and that he will come out a winner. He says that he believes in the constitution of Kenya and that's why he showed respect by stepping aside.

Sonko has been mentioned as being as part of the cartel that was involved in the Langata land grabbing scandal, alongside CS Charity Ngilu and businessman Deepak Kamani. Keep it Mpasho we'll keep you posted as news in this line surface.
