Just after Boniface Mwangi told Americans that Africa doesn't need a saviour and that they should help themselves, I bumped into something quite interesting. Living abroad can be a trap to many, as well all might agree.

When it comes to wishful thinking, most of us want to go to Las Vegas for the weekend, London for a shopping week, Paris for a date night with your fiance and much more. We don't necessarily appreciate that we're from a country full of tourism destinations and lots of cool people.

For this lady, she lists out the things she loves most about not being in Kenya but the ending will surprise you. Take a look!

The USA, The place to belong; most of my adulthood was earned here. The place everyone wants a space in. A smile on my face when I think of those who would love to be here. Yes I know; the quick cash earner, the land of the free, and the place you make top dollar, the rescue for your folks in Kenya/Africa via remittances. The country where you drive without fear of being carjacked, where you do not bribe the uniformed man, where you walk in and out of the emergency room with no care in the world. Where you call 911 and they are at your rescue without any need to tell of your past. Where you work two jobs and score in some damn good cash… where you climb up the ranks of corporate America easily just by mere dedication and hard work and not by credentials. Where you own property and pay as you earn… Where you play the lottery and win 5K easy… where cell phone subscriptions work, data unlimited because you can afford it, where electricity does not fail while living in the cities, where water is in abundance, where police, we escape due to a simple things as a busted tail light, a place where laws are upheld… (Most Laws)… and where working so hard can get you alienated from society, where loneliness is only substituted by being at work, where many die because of exhaustion, where many are living in penury, where many die due to wrong association, where many die from the unfamiliar bullet. Where many commit suicide and where many lose their marriages. Where many die in their homes with no one there with them, where many disassociate themselves from families back home. Where many do not want anything to do with their birth place. Where medication is dispersed without a second thought or advice, where depression is the order of the day, where lonesomeness to some becomes their livelihood and where panic attacks most reign. Xanax, Lexapro, Prozac, alcohol to numb you! Where many live in pretense that everything is FINE. Where some Kenyans Get Lost. (NB... Some Not ALL)

Home is best. Kenya… with all its madness… I truly belong there… At least there, there is truth. You can see it, feel it, opportunities are EVERYWHERE it does not matter where you live... Cheers.
