TODAYS BIG POLL : Do You Think The Government Has Done Enough To Secure Kenyans Against Al Shabaab?

Allow me to go off on a tangent even before we begin. I do not feel safe in Kenya anymore. When policemen were killed in Kapedo, we heard the same old rhetoric about ensuring the same wouldn't happen. Parallels were drawn between Kapedo and Baragoi and the same politicians came out to cry crocodile tears while paying lip-service to the situation.

Now, we have just witnessed an incident that has rocked the country to it's very core. 28 innocent civilians, many of whom are teachers have been executed by al Shabaab militants in cold blood and once again, the government has been caught flat footed.

Now, true to form, the rather lethargic security apparatus have come forth to declare that they are in control of the situation. When I think about it, to me it looks like the same tired script and sadly, the very same cast of characters.

But away from me and my feelings of insecurity, the question I want to pose today is whether I am alone in feeling like the government has dropped the ball? Has the government done all it can to secure it's citizenry in the face of a jihadist onslaught?
