11 Makini Students Trapped In Bus After Being Stranded By Flood Waters Rescued

Eleven Makini school students who had been trapped in their bus in floods in South C area, have been rescued. The students were stranded for over eight hours before they were rescued at 4.30 am this morning.

They were in a school bus being dropped home last night when the vehicle was trapped in the waters near South C mosque. The students were forced to stand on their seats as they waited rescue teams from police, City County fire brigade, Kenya Redcross and other officials. They were later rescued alongside three other adults and taken to Boma Hotel where their parents picked them up.

Most parts of Nairobi were plunged into darkness following a blackout that was caused by flooding. The areas affected include Muthangari, Njumbi Rd, Mzima Sprigs, Convent Rd, Amboseli Rd, Riverside Court, Musa Gitau Rd, Langata and South C, Nairobi West, Bomas of Kenya area, South C Estate, South B Estate, Parts of Industrial Area, Madaraka Estate and parts of Upperhill.
