Platnumz was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

He grew up in a slum called Tandale.

The bongo star who now brands himself as the Rolls Royce musician of Africa is never ashamed of his humble background.

A while back, the RnB heartthrob took the media to Tandale where he showed them the school and neighbourhood he lived in before he made it big in the entertainment business.

In the interview, he spoke about his English teacher at Tandale Primary school who was as tough as nails.

The classrooms were old and dilapidated.

One classroom had a humongous pothole in the middle while another did not even have a roof.

"This is my way of effecting change. And that is why I'm shining light on my former school to ensure those who come after me have better learning facilities."

Diamond also reminisced about the time he used to be a water vender in his estate.

"This is where I used to sell water, It doubled up as a base where me and my boys used to hang out."

Here are the photos from the tour of Tandale.
