A Chief Inspector of Police stationed at KBC Police Station in Matungulu sub-county, Machakos County, tragically lost his life in a river on Wednesday.

Cyprian Walunya Kasili drowned after his vehicle was submerged in River Kware.

The officer's body was discovered after members of the public reported a submerged motor vehicle at River Kware.

Police then visited the scene and retrieved his body.

The incident occurred around 4:40 pm on Wednesday.

"It was established that he was driving back to his home in Lowland Estate within Kware Area," stated a police report at KBC Police Station.

At the time of the report, the vehicle remained submerged in the river waters.

The body is being preserved at Patjud Funeral Home awaiting autopsy.
