Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi and his law firm associates have been barred from making submissions before the Supreme Court.
The apex court issued a statement on Thursday, citing the lawyer's consistent and unabashed attempts to scandalize and ridicule the court.
The court's decision states that, from the date of the communication, Ahmednasir Abdullahi and his associates will not have an audience before the court, either personally, through a law firm employee, or any other representative.
In response to the ban, Abdullahi rejected the statement, considering it a "badge of honour."
The Supreme Court clarified that while the decision may impact litigants who had sought the senior counsel's legal services, it is deemed untenable to seek justice in an institution and before judges whose reputation and integrity have been consistently attacked by the lawyer.
