Humanitarian activist Eric Omondi on Wednesday morning launched a rescue boat to aid flood victims in various areas of Nairobi County and its environs.

Omondi, through his Instagram page, was seen unloading the boat from a small vehicle and placing it on roads that had been submerged, turning them into small seas.

The activist, who is rumoured to be eyeing politics, said that on Wednesday morning, he and his team had already rescued 34 flood victims, noting that many others were still stranded on rooftops submerged by floods.

"We have rescued 34 people today from 8:30 am to 11 am and there are still hundreds stranded, including children, and disasters can happen ANYTIME!!! Last night we rescued a woman and her three children in the Ruiru OJ area," he said.

Omondi blamed both the national and county governments for not taking swift action to rescue citizens from the flood risk.

"The Kenyan Government should rush to MTO MANGELI ATHI BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!.A TRAGEDY IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN!!! There are families stranded on rooftops, and time is running out..." he said.

Floods continue to be witnessed in various areas of Nairobi County and neighboring counties due to heavy rains in recent days.

The meteorological authority warned that the rains may continue until June and advised those living in low-lying areas to move to safer places.

However, some have blamed the county leadership for what they claim is the contribution of many floods due to the absence of drainage systems to channel dirty water.
